FACETIME SHOOTS ARE THE NEW FUTURE! BUT ARE THEY?

In these tough times, artists have found a new way of creating content for themselves. *Drumroll*. Yes, FACETIME Shoots. When I first saw this concept, it blew me away. As ar as I can recollect, the first post that I saw was of a Chennai based fashion photographer named Vasanth Kumar. He had utilized this feature in a way no one had imagined and did a super innovative shoot with it. He practically shot a model from each continent, which was super impressive.

Inspired, I decided to try my hands on this and did a small experiment. I asked one of my good and extremely beautiful friend Fanny if she wanted to model for the shoot, and she agreed. So we quickly chose a day to do it as we were both eager to work with each other.

On the decided date and time, we video called and started the shoot. It was really fun because I was chatting with a friend on a video call and instructing her, and she kept suggesting ideas, which was also cool, and we had a little bit of help from Chinku, her brother.

He was the sweetest little kiddo. So finally, the much-awaited shoot happened, and we enjoyed this new way of image-making, but something was missing. Maybe it was interacting with the whole team, the humorous jokes that we used to crack, or perhaps it was the loud music that we played during the shoots.

“Facetime Shoots! Are they Really Good?”

But even in the end, I wasn’t able to recognize what was missing throughout all of it, and it made me realize that this is not my thing. Many of my photographer friends in my circle have started this, and I think they should do it if they like it, but this is not something that’s meant for me. Also, for the people who are trying this at home or are planning to try this, here are a few tips that you should follow –

1) Make sure both of you have a good high-speed internet connection, or else it could all go south.

2) Plan/Style your shoot before you actually shoot. This brainstorming will help you come up with more unique and innovative ideas.

3) Be prepared with all the necessary equipment so that nothing gets delayed, and everything flows smoothly during the shoot.
