5 WAYS TO MAKE USE OF THIS LOCKDOWN

We are all stuck at home, some against their will, some intentionally. Few of us are enjoying this time while the rest are hating it and cursing everyone around. Here are 5 ways to make use of this lockdown. Some of us are missing their favourite street food, while others are enjoying the simple home-cooked meals. We’ve been in this situation for about 60 days now, but the light at the end of the tunnel doesn’t seem any closer.

Hence, since we are running out of fun options anyway, let’s use this time productively, and let’s not waste this golden opportunity to enhance ourselves by taking it for granted. I’ve mentioned a few fun things below that are really helping me get through this lockdown and improving my skillset simultaneously. You might find something down there that catches your interest as well.

5 WAYS TO MAKE USE OF THIS LOCKDOWN –

1) ENROLL FOR ONLINE COURSES

We all know that once we get stuck in the loop of working all day or with our hectic college lives, it’s challenging for us to incorporate learning new skills into our busy schedule. All of us can best utilize this time to learn a few skills to boost our resume or become more skilled at the crafts of our passion. Skillshare, Coursera, Codeacademy, Udemy, etc. are a few of the websites that offer an array of course choices. You can check them out and try out a few sessions for free to see if it is the best fit for you.

2) UPDATE YOUR PORTFOLIO

Due to our fast-paced lives, it is almost impossible to work on our portfolio and keep updating it. This comparatively leisure time is a great asset to get yourself back to work on that old rusty portfolio and update it with the latest and quirkiest creative ideas by drawing inspiration from others (since now you have got the time to browse for some). 3) LEARN A NEW SKILL

When was last that you had learned something new like a language, or a craft? Use this time to learn something that you can capitalize on later. Learn a new skill and build a portfolio on that. Who knows, maybe this new skill could provide you with a life-changing opportunity.

4) EAT WELL SLEEP WELL

This mantra is something that I’ve tried to work on consistently. I know what sleep deprivation and binging on junk food for days can do to your body and have possibly seen the worst effects of both of them. I have had days where I had no sleep for 48 hours straight and shot in the same clothes throughout without getting the time to go home for a change.

Irregular food intervals and sleep routines can affect us in worse ways than we take into account. That said, this is a time like no other to correct that and get all those sleep cycles and unhealthy eating habits back in order. Eat properly, and sleep early. Like they say, “early to bed, early to rise makes a person healthy, wealthy, and wise.”

5) EXCERCISE! YES, YOU CAN DO IT.

With good food and proper sleep cycles already working their charm on you, for additional and super necessary benefits, there’s another magic ingredient that you need to add to your life. You guessed it, working out and getting some movement in your body has a plethora of health benefits (it’s not like we didn’t know that already, our laziness is the only criminal here, isn’t it?) Exercise is even more necessary during this lockdown because we do not get the required physical activity that we used to do by walking to places daily.

Yoga, Pilates, Dance Fitness, HIIT, and checking out other apps that have Cardio exercise challenges can be used to up your fitness game by working at home during this time, especially since the gyms are closed. A simple walk in the morning or evening can also do the trick. So get off your lazy bums and move around by choosing any activity of your liking and get your happy hormones flowing in your body, a gift that your body rewards you with for making it work, weird but super cute, right?

Tips: Call a friend you connect with, and you will not know when an hour or two has passed while walking.
