Being a fashion photographer, what I have noticed is that all you need is a fast camera and high-speed lights. I have been a Sony user for the past three years, and I can proudly say I don’t regret making this switch. Back in the day around 2017, I had purchased my first Canon body which was a 550D. I used it for quite a while, but I wanted to upgrade to a better body a full-frame sensor.

So, one day, I finally made up my mind to go ahead and get a new camera for myself. The question now was do I stick to Canon as brand loyalty or do I make a switch, and during this transition, sony was making a hype in the market. I had never used a sony body and wanted to get my hands on it.

One of my mentors from Hyderabad was a Sony user, so I requested him and started using his camera for a couple of days, and that’s it, I fell in love with the sony ecosystem. Though at that time sony did not have a wide variety of lenses to pick from, and the one’s that were out there in the market were very expensive as Sony has partnered up with Carl Zeiss for a series of lenses.

During my starting experience with Sony, I had my hands on a Sony A7RII, and this beast had a great autofocus system, way better than the ones on Canon. Canon’s AF system has always been a bit weaker when compared to Nikon or Sony. Now we are all in the new era of camera’s and Canon has launched their mirrorless camera line which is called EOS R series.

They have a very limited lens lineup, but that body is something I would surely love to check out. But again I want to know if Canon can keep up with the Sony market.

I will be doing a series of blogs on the E mount lenses that I have used over my journey as a fashion photographer, so stay tuned for that.
